The main purpose of this blog is to help teachers to understand that they don't have to be technical wizards to have their students create videos.

Thanks, Nikos, for the amazingly quick and personal response! It would be very helpful to start a discussion about EQUIPMENT for use in schools (what works and what doesn't, what is absolutely needed and what is not to produce good quality films) and
I believe that this group will have much to offer in advice. Should I try to "add the Equipment group" and start the discussion? Yes, Alaska is a great place with rich culture; it is a great place to live and teach. You should try to make…

Nikos Theodosakis said… Hello Olga, Καλώς ήρθατε!
Welcome to this site and to this resource. How wonderful that you come from theatre, you have a lot to offer your students! Often when I talk about new directions for teaching, I point to how film and theatre directors work with their actors, and how the point of the director is not to impose their vision of the work onto the actor, but to help the actor find their truth of the work being explored. As you know, when the actor discovers this, there can be insight and deep understanding, and portrayal, otherwise, its just memorizing lines. I think in teaching, the same applies, either we are inviting students to find their own personal connection to the work, why it matters, and how to make it personal, or else we are just asking them to memorize lines. Good luck in your new adventure as a teacher, keep us posted on your thoughts! - Nikos (A Canadian of Greek decent!)
